About Me

About Me
I grew up in The Faroe Islands, my ancestral home, but I left that magnificent jewel when I turned 20, to spend the next 3 years on my sailboat Salka Valka exploring the worlds oceans, waves, winds, islands and sea creatures.
When I came back from my journey all the way around the world, I was not only a lot more sea and world-wise, I was also a mother of a little blond sea-troll, my daughter Freyja, who miraculously entered my immature world, and who over the more than 20 years that have passed since then, has taught me so much more than any dare-devil adventures of mine.
Back home from the seas I embarked on anthropology at the university of Oslo, Norway. My desire was to study and find out what a human being really is… no small endeavour!
Life never stands still, it is always talking to us, and next it sent my to Granada, Spain, which is where I have been living for the past 19 years, where I had my mountain-troll, my daughter Lea - yet another great teacher on my slow journey to maturity, wisdom and love.

I am currently teaching mindfulness and meditation at the University of Granada, as well as teaching regularly in Scandinavia. I am also teaching online workshops in english, Spanish and the Scandinavian languages.

I also offer meditation and yoga retreats here in Spain.

My studies and practices have mainly been in Tibetan Buddhism, and am currently finishing a two year mindfulness and meditation  teacher  program with Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach, certified by The Greater Good Science Center at the University of Berkley.

I believe in deep transformation on all levels, of the body of the heart and of the mind. I have seen how we can release old patterns and boldly receive life with embodied wonder and curiosity, which brings us ever closer to our souls calling.

I am deeply fascinated by the play of life, by the dance of spirit and body, by how we can carve out a purposeful life while at the same time staying deeply connected to our earth, our bodies as well as to the less tangible aspects of our being.

My current edge and investigations are into the nature and practices of purpose and courage. I am curious about what Joseph Campbell invoques when he says:
“We must let go of the life we've planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us”

What can I say... meditation has transformed my LIFE! Apart from my daughters, my dog and my family and friends, transforming difficulties into opportunities is what I am most passionate about.
Learning to live life as if it really matters, is what turns me on. I have always given life my ALL! And these days I am "obsessed" by teaching myself and others about how to find peace and joy in the midst of difficult emotions and challenging circumstances.
